Triathlantic's Cape May du and tri had four of us
show up. All racing
the du:
Doug 1:17:20, 1st in 35-39, 5th overall
Steve R 1:18:57 1st in 55-59, 8th
Don 1:19:47 1st in 50-54, 10th
Adam 1:21:30 3rd in 20-24, 17th
The course was slightly changed from last year. the bike
was 15.7 or 15.8 by several people's computers. There
was no bad surface at the start. The du had 115 competitors.
Trevor ran in the USATF 15k mid-Atlantic championship
road race, doing a 29:06 and placing 2nd in 30-39 and
15th overall.
May 30 - Duathlon World Championships
On Sunday, May 30, the pros raced in Geel, Belgium.
It rained the
entire race. Matt came through the opening 10 k run in
32:50 and was gaining places on the bike leg when he had
the misfortune of flatting, ending his first world championship
race.
The next day rain was predicted again but it held off
and the age
groupers had better conditions. Du2R members raced well,
with one medal and two near misses:

Lee raced with a partial tear of some knee cartiledge,
which slowed him down but he toughed it out.
May 23
Five team members raced the Columbia triathlon this past
weekend.

There were 1400 in the race. Temps reached 90 during
the race. Andrea had drive line problems, dropping her
chain thrice and so decided to just cruise in and save
it for Geel.
JP raced the Colin Casey 3K in his first race back from
a hamstring
injury. He took 1st in his AG and 5th overall with a time
of 11:20.
Lee headed for Worlds with some torn cartilege in his
knee. His doc
said racing shouldn't make it any worse, so here's hoping
he can do the race anyway.
May 15-16
The team was quite spread out this past weekend, as we
had 6 members racing in 5 States. Greg placed first overall
in the Charlotte's Finest Duathlon (NC) with a time of
1:16:50.
Kevin and Jeff raced in the Queens Biathlon (NY). Kevin
placed 3rd
overall in 1:24:21, while Jeff placed 8th overall and
1st in 50-54 age group with a 1:26:33.
John finished 11th overall and racked up another 65-69
age group win in the Manassas Mini-tri (VA). Trevor raced
the NJ State time trial championship, clocking 1:00:29,
to place 4th in 30-34. Don ran in the Viking 5k, placing
1st in 50-54 and 18th overall.
May 2
Seven members raced in the Blackwater Traverse Duathlon,
which is the USAT mid-Atlantic regional championship this
year.
Matt lead the way with his 2nd pro win in four weeks.
This win came in spectacular fashion, as he rode away
from the pro field and posted a 2:06 gap over Travis Kuhl
in 2nd place. Matt 1st Pro 1:46:57. Matt also set the
fastest bike split and missed the fastest 2nd run time
by 7 seconds.

Andrea Marsh raced the Salisbury (MD) sprint triathlon,
and was 3rd woman overall in 1:18:55. Great races everyone!
Also, Marc Lombardini, of our sponsor, The Candlelight
Inn placed 20th in 30-34 and 118th overall in 2:38:31,
chopping over 13 minutes off his time at Blackwater last
year.
Beth raced in the Trooper Biathlon in Hurley, NY and
finished 11th
overall out of about 130 people and 1st woman in a time
of 1:09:43. Distances were 2, 14, 2.
April 17-18
Six Du2R racers went to the Brandywine Duathlon in Deleware
on Saturday, April 17. The group was led by Matt Cooke.
The results:
Matt - 2nd pro, 1:15:57. Matt was 20 seconds behind perennial
top pro duahtlete, Greg Watson. Matt was bidding for his
2nd pro win in as many weeks.
Trey Cassidy- 4th amateur, 1st in 35-39, 1:22:25
Doug Mock- 7th amateur, 2nd in 35-39, 1:26:40
Jeff Timm- 25th amateur, 1st in 50-54, 1:29:28
Lee Wilk- 45th amateur, 3rd in 45-49, 1:34:24
John Elliott- 55th amateur, 1st in 65-69, 1:36:16
There were 220 finishers.
Jakob Barnett (Arlington, VA) raced in the Riverwood
Sprint Triathlon, in Clayton, NC, placing 1st overall
with a time of about 54:24. There were 360 finishers.
Don Forgione (Ellicott City, MD) ran in the Clyde's American
10k in
Columbia, Md, notching a 1st in 50-54 and 57th overall,
with a time of 41:19. There were over 1300 finishers.
Linda ran a 4 mile footrace in Central Park, clocking
a 25:15. Linda was 264th of 5904 overall, 35th of 2884
females only and 15th of 1152 females in age group 30-39.
Kevin finished 7th in the NYC Spring Training Series
(cycling) on
Sunday.
March 28
Du2R had four members at PowerMan Alabama. The distances
were 8k, 55k, 8k. The results were:
Trey 2:33:40 3rd in 35-39 14th overall
Jeff 2:48:16 5th in 50-54 71st overall
Lee 3:02:54 9th in 45-49 145th overall
Trevor Orthmann DNF'd due to flat tire
All three finishers qualified for the duathlon world
champioships
Also on the 28th, Kevin raced in the March Madness Biathlon
in Central Park. Kevin placed 1st in 30-34 and 4th overall.
March 20
Doug and Steve ran in the Shamrock 8k. Doug placed 5th
in the 30-39 age group and 33rd overall, with a time of
26:37. Steve placed 5th in 50-59 and 71st overall, with
a time of 29:17.
March 14
Du2R had four racers at the season opener, the March Mauler
Duathlon in N. Carolina. Du2R entrants included:
Linda placed 2nd woman and 15th overall in 2:38:12
Greg placed 7th in 30-34 and 16th overall in 2:41:08
Jeff placed 1st in 50-54 and 18th overall in 2:41:44
Anton placed 6th in 45-49 and 58th overall in 2:57:55
There were 152 finishers.
Trevor raced in the Ceasar Rodney Half Marathon in Deleware
placed 48th out of 1177 finishers and 7th out of 91 in
the 30-34 age group with a time of 1:23:12.
March 6-7
Steve S. raced in the Seneca Trail Marathon and placed
3rd overall
Andrea raced in the B&A Trail Half Marathon and placed
6th overall and 1st woman, in 1:30:44. Great job both
of you.
