Sept 27, John Elliott raced in the Senior Olympics
10 K race, finishing 2nd overall and 1st in 65-69, in
a new age group record time.
Sept 27, Jeff raced in the Pine Barrens duathlon
on Sat. grabbing 6th overall and 1st in 50-54. He followed
that up with Lums Pond du on Sunday, placing 3rd overall
and 1st in 50-54.

New member Steve Ruckert placed 2nd overall and 1st in

Matt raced in the Cat 3 race and won.

Trevor clocked a 1:23:01, to place 45th of 450 in
his AG and 218th of 6,814 overall.
Sept. 21, Coastal Therapy Duathlon, Rincon, GA.
Greg placed 3rd overall with a time of 1:18:13.
Sept. 14, Matt did his 2nd pro race, the SUMMA Professional
Triathlon in Akron, Ohio. It was a Formula One style
race with a 500 meter swim, 7 mile draft legal bike and
a 2 mile run, all of this three times with a 5 minute
break after the last finisher came in. Matt placed 7th
overall.
Sept. 14, Powerman Zofingen, Switzerland.
(10K, 150K, 30K).
Jeff placed 3rd in 50-54, getting the bronze medal.
He was 70th out of about 400 overall. His time was 8:13:28.
This is
Jeff's fourth time doing the ITU Powerman Championship.
He has finished 8th, 6th, 2nd and 3rd.

ITU pro triathlon race, the Monster Challenge in Boston

Jeff placed 2nd in 50-54 and 14th overall. The avg incline
on the second run is about 12%, and Jeff averaged a 15:00
per mile pace, the 36th fastest 2nd run split.

Greg Sabo took First Place Overall at the Mooresville, NC
Duathlon in 1:19:12.
July 27, Lake Placid Ironman, NY.
At the Lake Placid Ironman, there were 3 Du2R racers,
Linda, Mike and Anton. Linda clocked a 12:06:45 and placed
12th of 97 in 35-39. Mike had a 13:33:27 and was 217th of
323. Anton had a 14:03:17 and was 103rd
July 27, High Rock Lake Duathlon, NC.
Three Du2R racers were at the High Rock Lake Du, near
Charlotte, NC. Greg had a 1:27:01, despite dropping his
chain, to place 5th O/A and 2nd in 30-34. Jeff had a 1:33:01,
good for 1st in 50-54 and 13th O/A. Jan had a 1:43:00, also
taking 1st in 50-54, 4th woman O/A and 28th O/A.

Greg finished 2nd in 30-34 age group in 17:40

Trey Cassidy entered at the last minute and finished
4th overall with a time of 1:06:56
June 29, Longsjo Classic Stage Race, Fitchburg, MA.
Matt Cooke raced well in each event and finished in
the top 10
overall. He made a nice break with a lap and a half to go
in the crit
and Trey, who was spectating, thought he might hold them
off, but he got caught by the pack in the final stretch.

Anton finished in 5:37:56, 404th of 856 overall and

in 45-49 age group. Mike Primich clocked a 5:46:46 to place

Matt went down early in the race but got back up and
took the free lap. He ended up leading out teammates in

Linda tried her first iron-distance triathlon and placed
17th in the 35-39 age group and 394th overall out of 1350
finishers with a time of 5:05:17. Jan raced the run portion
of the race for a relay team, Jan's time for the 13.1 mile
run was 1:32:06 and her team was the 3rd co-ed team.
June 8, Shamrock Duathlon, Glastonbury, CT. Race

Trevor placed 25th overall and 6th in 30-34 with a time
of 1:33:04. Jeff Timm clocked a 1:36:12, including a two
minute penalty for outside assistance. Jeff suffered a flat,
by chance near Holly, who gave him his car keys so he could
get another wheel. The penalty was for handing him the car
keys. Jeff still managed to place 2nd in 50-54 and 33rd
overall.
June 7, Quicksilver Crit., Dulles, VA
Matt won the Category 4 race and placed 6th in the Cat.

Greg Sabo's time was 1:20:37, good for 1st in 30-34

Matt raced in the Clarendon Cup Criterium, in the Cat.3/4
race, where he placed 2nd. He bridged to two riders on a
break, then the three of them lapped the field.

sprint of 5k, 17k, 5k.

Jan continued her awesome season, winning her age group
and finishing 13th overalll among women, with a time of
2:21:50. Trevor had a very good race, clocking 2:12:30 to

We had two racers in the Columbia Triathlon, Judi and Anton.
Judi
placed 3rd in her age group in 3:11:25, despite a broken
front shifter cable. Anton placed 31st in 45-49, in 2:52:49,
despite a flat tire. Always fun changing those on cool,
rainy days. The weather was pretty miserable for the 2nd
year in a row, resulting in almost 400 no-shows out of about
1400 entrants.

Du2R Multisport did very well at the Blackwater Traverse
duathlon on Sunday, May 4. Four team members; Tara Smith,
Judi Carbary, JP Bacle, and Jordan McAmmond, qualified for
Team USA and the worlds. They bring the Du2R total to seven
that have qualified, half the team. We had four women in
the top ten and we nearly put four men in the top 50.

Brenda Allen took 1st women overall. Brenda's last competition
was Apple National Champs Du 2000. What a great way to come
back from a long break for children. Congrats Brenda!
Jeff Timm took 1st in 50-54 with a time of 1:21. He placed
4th overall (not including relays). He was a few seconds
behind 3rd place overall.
JP Bacle took 2nd in 50-54 with a time of 1:23. He placed
8th overall not including relays. It was he's first duathlon
since October 2002.

Jan Tripp raced at the Striders (formerly Strutter's) Duathlon
in Texas, where she placed 1st Grand Master, 2nd Master
and 4th woman overall. The Strutter's race is one of the
longer events of the season, with a two 10 k runs and a
74 k bike.

At Brandywine, Trey surprised us by showing up and claiming
7th overall and 3rd in 30-34. Trevor broke a tooth and had
dental work done the day before, so he passed on this one.
Adam took first in 19 & under, cruising through to 39th
overall in the maiden race for his new bike. Don took 2nd
in 50-54 and 35th overall. Judy Carbary placed 1st in 50-54
with a 1:55:03. There were 217 signed up and 190 finishers.
The conditions were: 46 degrees, windy, damp and overcast.
There were only one or two drizzles during the race. The
transition area was very sloppy as a result of all the rain
before though. Our tires and shoes looked as though we had
done a mtn bike and cross country du.
Virginia Beach Duathlon, Sunday

Four Du2R racers competed at the Virginia Beach Duathlon,
Sunday, April 6. Linda and Jeff continued their roll from
PMAL. Linda placed 3rd among all women and 28th overall,
in 1:33:54. Jeff placed 1st in the 50-54 age group and 14th
overall, in 1:28:38. Don placed 2nd in 50-54 and 24th overall,
in 1:32:15. Tara placed 2nd in 35-39, 8th among the women
and 48th overall, in 1:36:16. There
were 329 finishers. Pros placed 1-2, so everyone's overall
place among amateurs is 2 places better.

Three members of Du2R Multisport, competed. Jeff Timm placed
1st in the 50-54 age group and 45th overall, in 2:46:17.
Linda Boring placed 2nd in the 35-39 age group and 8th woman
overall, in 2:57:09 and Jan Tripp placed 2nd in the 50-54
age group and 19th woman overall, in 3:08:26. All three
secured spots on Duathlon Team USA, for the World Duathlon
Championships in Affoltern, Switzerland in August. There
were 543 entrants.
